Welcome to Unbound Glory Homestead
Our growing philosophy and ever evolving system of cultural practices (limited tillage, stale seed bedding, cover cropping, etc.) strive to work with the resiliency of natural systems. The result is vegetables grown and harvested by hand with very little mechanization and free of any chemical inputs.
Unbound Glory is a small diversified farm situated on 15.4 acres in the town of Pomfret, one of the jewels in the crown of Connecticut’s Quiet Corner. Founded in 2013, the husband and wife team of Adam and Courtney Squire work an ever growing Market Garden. We focus on growing heirloom vegetables that offer not only great visual appeal but also deliver rare flavor on the plate.
We are ready to fill your table with the season’s bounty usually by the first weekend of July through mid-October.
The Unbound Glory team shares a passion for food, with a particular fondness for Southern Foodways and the proud North Carolina BBQ tradition. The intersection of this American culinary heritage and the commitment to growing heirloom vegetables produces seasonally driven menus that often graduate from the well worn cannon of BBQ offerings.
Unbound Glory Farm also stewards a small treatment-free apiary that produces a boutique honey that is raw and gravity-strained. The positive synergies between vegetable production and the apiary are central to the success of the farm.
Where to Buy
As a small diversified farm, we have many avenues for getting our produce to your plate. We offer a 12-week farm share/CSA membership serving both the Branford area and the greater Pomfret community. We also attend local farmer’s markets, where we enjoy conversing with patrons about our growing practices and what we are particularly proud of on our table, while sharing the best of what the season has to offer. In addition, we ply our bounty to a growing spectrum of restaurants that share our passion for great food and the freshest raw ingredients.
Each season we offer a farm share subscription. In the winter months we tailor our crop plan to offer an evolving diversity of vegetables in each week’s share. We harvest just hours before our farm share distribution so that every item included in the share is peak pick, delivering nutrient density and vitality.
Each week we publish and include in each share a list of varietal descriptions and lore with accompanying recipe suggestions that are well vetted in our farm kitchen. We also send out an email in advance of each week’s share distribution to communicate what we project to include in order to help folks with meal planning. The result is the best of what the season has to offer, delivering great native vegetables to your family’s table. Our farm share is structured to run roughly from the beginning of July for 12 weeks into September.
